Cowan Park had been owned by the same family. It was built by the grandfather and I was able to retrieve the original plans drawn on linen paper and hand done! What a treat to see the detail work that a human mind did and not just a computer! The house sits on a sunny corner lot with loads of sunlight. When I bought it, however, there were three huge dogwood trees that hid the house and blocked the sun. It was amazing just to prune those back and let it shine. My landscaper, Matthew Kearney, did a beautiful job restoring the yard. When I bought it everyone said " Nice but no yard!" He was able to create a spacious fenced yard for the kids. I loved all the built-ins in this house and we were able to restore all of them. The kitchen was pushed out 2 feet which allowed for a larger space. I opened up all the rooms so the downstairs just flowed from room to room. The upstairs was made into a private master suite. I did something I'd never done and mixed fir with tile in the bathroom. Turned out great! Did I say I LOVE my job? I do!
