Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find out.

I had been working on the house across the street from this house, when the owner came knocking. He spent a good amount of time taking in what I had done on the house. When he left he shook my hand and told me he’d like for me to buy his house and fix it up in a year when he was ready to sell. I wasn’t sure he was serious. But there it was, his email just a year later offering to sell to me.

I am not sure he would admit to this, but I do believe that he saw this as a gift to the neighbors on the block. I felt a sense of generosity in him; A respect for the old house and wanting to see that the house was restored with care and consideration to enhance the neighborhood.

So moved by this generosity of spirit and respect, I moved forward to restore this old house to its original charm. The high ceilings and spacious main level tip a hat to generous spaces.

I believe that a generous heart and mind is the theme of this home. My hope is that this continues to inspire all who live here.
